This stock medical exhibit features a nuchal cord x2 with fetal hypoxia. A mid-sagittal view of the infant in-utero illustrates the umbilical cord wrapped twice around the neck. Hypoxia is shown because of decreased blood flow. An enlarged view of the umbilical cords shows how normal oxygen and carbon dioxide pass thru a normal umbilicus. A similar view of the cord shows how blood flow stops when it is compressed.
