C6-7 Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This stock medical exhibit depicts a C6-7 anterior cervical discectomy and fusion procedure. The first illustration is a sagittal view of the cervical spine showing the pre-operative condition with a detailed inset of C6-7. The inset clearly reveals a disc herniation with a torn posterior longitudinal ligament and significant instability at C6-7. There are four steps of the operative procedure illustrated beginning with the incision to expose the cervical vertebrae. Next shows the removal of the C6-7 intervertebral disc. Then using a high speed drill, the vertebral endplates of C6-7 are drilled down in preparation for the graft. Finally bone allograft is placed in the empty disc space and secured with a plate and multiple screws.
